I am sick.
Everyone so worried about H1N1, and here I have your run-of-the-mill, average old, barely news-worthy cold.
I have filled my trashcan up halfway with tissues. My back and abs hurt from the constant, body-wrenching sneezes. My nose is raw and I feel like crying every time I have to blow.
Desparate times call for desparate measures. Rooting around for something, anything, to soothe the chafing, I came upon one of those products whose only purpose in life is raw, red, irritated skin.
That’s right: diaper rash ointment. Ages ago I got a free sample of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter diaper rash ointment (now with a much more charming moniker). As that seemed much less gross to spread on my schnoz than Desitin (which I also still have lying around), I decided to give it a go. Stung slightly at first, but so far it really does feel soothed. We’ll see if I still feel that way by tomorrow morning!
For the record, my sinuses cleared up the very next day so I didn’t *really* get to put the Palmer’s to the test. But I still think it would have worked, and I’ll be ready next time around!
